Maurice Ramirez is a skilled real estate developer with over 30 years of experience in finance, urban planning, development, and construction. As the President of Domus Development, he is actively involved in the development of affordable housing projects in California and works closely with the professionals that make up the vertically integrated companies under Newport Partners. These include Domus Management Company and NP Construction Company.
Mr. Ramirez has served as senior executive for several leading for-profit and non-profit development firms in California. Prior to joining Domus, he served as Executive Vice President of AMCAL Multi-Housing for 11 years where he directly managed or coordinated the Finance, Development, Construction, and Asset Management departments. As part of the Executive Team, he helped oversee the strategic growth of AMCAL into an industry leader in affordable, market-rate, and student housing developments in California and Texas.
Mr. Ramirez has been the lead developer in over 80 multifamily communities, including permanent supportive, workforce affordable, market-rate and student housing totaling well over 10,000 apartment units. Within this portfolio, he has redeveloped several landmark properties on the National Registry of Historic Places; adaptively repositioning hospitals, fire houses, and office buildings into residential and mixed-use communities. Many of these developments have been recognized with numerous local, State, and National preservation awards.
Mr. Ramirez focuses his philanthropic efforts through a fundraising effort he coordinates providing scholarships to students living in affordable housing. Since its inception in 2011, this effort has raised over half a million dollars.
Mr. Ramirez has a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Honors from the University of Virginia.
